Infiniti runs on Nissan underpinnings, and the newer models — Q50, Q60, QX50, QX60 — are capable, comfortable cars that deserve better than the dealer experience most Infiniti owners get. We handle the full range of Infiniti maintenance and repair, and we also tune the VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 in the Q50 and Q60 Red Sport.

The VR30DDTT is the engine that makes Infiniti interesting from our perspective. It's a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that makes 300 horsepower in base form and 400 horsepower in Red Sport trim. The engine architecture is solid — it's not a warmed-over VQ; it's a clean-sheet design with modern direct injection and twin turbochargers. It also responds to tuning better than almost any engine in its class.

For non-performance Infiniti work, we see a lot of QX60s (which share a platform with the Nissan Pathfinder) and older G35 and G37 sedans. The VQ35 and VQ37 engines in those cars are bulletproof — just keep up with oil changes and they'll run for 200K+ miles without drama.

The VR30DDTT in the Q50 and Q60 is one of the most tunable engines we work with. Dave tunes it via EcuTek, and the power gains are substantial. A Red Sport 400 with just an EcuTek tune picks up 50-70 wheel horsepower — that's 450-470 wheel horsepower with no hardware changes. Add downpipes, intakes, and heat exchanger upgrades and you're looking at 500+ wheel horsepower on a street-driven sedan.

The base 300-horsepower Q50 and Q60 (still the VR30, just with smaller turbos) respond well too. A tune on the 3.0t brings it up to roughly 350 wheel horsepower, which closes the gap to Red Sport territory for a fraction of the cost.

We do all VR30 tuning on our Mustang AWD dyno. These are twin-turbo engines making serious power, and you want to see what's happening with boost, exhaust gas temps, and air-fuel ratios under real load. Dave's EcuTek Master certification gives him full access to the Infiniti ECU — he's writing a custom calibration, not loading a canned file.

There aren't many shops in the Denver area that can both service your Infiniti's daily maintenance needs and tune the VR30 on a dyno. We do both under one roof. That's useful because the shop that tunes your car should also be the shop that maintains it — they know what mods are on it, what the tune expects, and what to look for when something doesn't feel right.
